Job Description

Enterprise Application Architect III: This position is responsible for the conceptualizing, designing, development, maintenance, enhancement, and support of specific enterprise applications enabling the Cooperative to meet business objectives. This position will lead project teams and serve as the primary point of contact between Information Services & Telecommunications (IS&T), the Cooperative business units, and external solution providers. The incumbent ensures compliance of technology solutions with IS&T standards and participation in the full development life cycle. The enterprise applications utilize a variety of computing platforms and technologies. These may include Windows, Linux, zOS/CICS, and UNIX environments. These applications may include both client/server and web-based applications. This position works under minimal direction and is responsible to recommend technical strategies. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP)-related position which may involve physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems. Senior Enterprise Application Architect: This position is responsible for the administration of enterprise applications. This includes, but is not limited to, project management, conceptualizing, designing, development, maintenance, enhancement, and support of multiple major enterprise applications enabling the Cooperative to meet business objectives. This position will lead project teams and serve as the primary point of contact between Information Services & Telecommunications (IS&T), the Cooperative business units, and external solution providers. The incumbent ensures compliance of technology solutions with IS&T standards and participation in the full development life cycle. The enterprise applications utilize a variety of computing platforms and technologies. These may include Windows, Linux, zOS/CICS, and UNIX environments. These applications may include both client/server and web-based applications. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position which may involve physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.

Required Skills

Enterprise Application Architect III:  To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have considerable knowledge of application development and application lifecycles, implementation of applications; Structured Query Language (SQL); and knowledge of relational databases. This knowledge is acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering or related field, and six years of experience in the development of Visual Basic.NET, C#, .NET , ASP.NET with SQL Server, or Oracle databases; or a two-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering, or related field and eight years of experience in the development of Visual Basic.NET, C#, .NET , ASP.NET with SQL Server, or Oracle databases; or a high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 10 years of experience in the development of Visual Basic.NET, C#, .NET , ASP.NET with SQL Server, or Oracle databases. The incumbent must have the ability to manage time and provide estimates of time required to accomplish work; ability to manage project deadlines; and the ability to adapt, pick up new techniques, and coach and mentor co-workers. The ability to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills is also required. This position travels up to 10% of the time and is required to be on-call, as needed.

Senior Enterprise Application Architect:  To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have extensive knowledge of application development and application lifecycles, application development and implementation of applications; C++ or C# or Visual Basic, or PowerBuilder, or other procedural language; Structured Query Language (SQL), relational databases; project management concepts and techniques; and of application administration and application management. This extensive knowledge is acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering or related field and 10 years of experience in the development of Visual Basic.NET, C#, .NET , ASP.NET with SQL Server or Oracle databases; or a two-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Engineering or related field and 14 years of experience in the development of Visual Basic.NET, C#, .NET , ASP.NET with SQL Server or Oracle databases; or a high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 16 years of experience in  the development of Visual Basic.NET, C#, .NET , ASP.NET with SQL Server or Oracle databases. The incumbent must have the ability to manage time and provide estimates of time required to accomplish work; ability to manage project deadlines; and the ability to adapt and pick up new techniques. This position must be able to provide mentorship and training to co-workers, lead medium to large-scale projects as a technical project lead, and provide work direction to individuals in a programmer, level I, II, III, or Senior position. This position travels up to 10% of the time and will be on-call, as needed.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands: 

This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. Some travel is required.
